The Thread That Binds Us
Dear Reader,
According to ancient Chinese myth, the Gods create invisible red threads which connect those who are destined to meet -the thread may stretch or tangle with time, place and circumstance, but it will never break.
If you’ve been following our story, then you’re already aware that L. and I haven’t had the smoothest of roads. In our 20 months together, we’ve fought, been on breaks, and have even discussed ending our relationship.
But in the face of every difficulty, we somehow emerge more loving, more persistent, and more sure of our strength together.
“How rare and special it all is,” he would gently remind me, “the unavoidability of us being together.” How extraordinary, when L. had captured me on video in New York three months before we would exchanged our first words. How amazing, when he was traveling to Tokyo and I had no intentions of traveling, but yet we somehow ended up in the same hostel in San Francisco. How undeniable, when just three days of conversations late into the night blossomed into a long distance friendship, into an international relationship, and now, into almost two years together.
Some call it fate.
Some call it coincidence.
But all we know is this inexplicable sense of belonging withing each other’s embrace…binded by love, the thing that ties us all.
