Long Distance Inspiration No. 5: Cynthia & Patric*
As cliché as this seems, we met in France -at our company’s Paris office. Since we were colleagues, we spent a great deal of time together and developed a great working relationship…and eventually, a greater friendship. But because we were best friends and colleagues, I couldn’t really express just how much I had come to admire her. It was a little devastating when she announced over dinner one night that she was going back to headquarters in New York. After some deliberation, I told her how I felt the day after. I figured…we were both mature adults, who saw something special in each other. I believed in the strength of our friendship, even if she did not reciprocate my feelings.Lucky me, she did. Unlucky us, our relationship began as a long distance one.Honestly, I don’t know how we survived those three years. Due to conflicting work schedules, we could only visit each other in person twice a year. We spent nearly every available moment together on Skype, and I spend two years on the waiting list just for a transfer to our New York office. At the time, it seemed terribly long and unending, but…here we are today.”

The Roads We Will Take
Dear Reader,It is with bittersweetness that I place One day, on temporary hiatus.L. and I have decided to taking some time off to reexamine our relationship -it was a mutual decision that had very little to do with our physical distance and very much to do with who we are as individuals. And ultimately, what makes us happy. We’re not sure how long it would take to arrive at a satisfactory answer, or what that outcome might be.Perhaps we would discover that the road we now walk branches into separate paths. Perhaps we would decide that our paths ultimately still leads to each other. Either way, there is beauty, even in the dark mystery of the great unknown. He taught me that. For those who would like to remain in touch, please message me here or visit me at my personal Tumblr. The Roads We Will Take

Dear Reader,

It is with bittersweetness that I place One day, on temporary hiatus.

L. and I have decided to taking some time off to reexamine our relationship -it was a mutual decision that had very little to do with our physical distance and very much to do with who we are as individuals. And ultimately, what makes us happy.

We’re not sure how long it would take to arrive at a satisfactory answer, or what that outcome might be.

Perhaps we would discover that the road we now walk branches into separate paths. Perhaps we would decide that our paths ultimately still leads to each other.

Either way, there is beauty, even in the dark mystery of the great unknown.

He taught me that.

For those who would like to remain in touch, please message me here or visit me at my personal Tumblr. Otherwise, I will continue to maintain and update the Directory, but One day, will remain dormant until further notice.

I’d like to take this opportunity to once again, express my gratitude to all of you for supporting this project and the many friends I’ve made along the way -it is your collective strength and faith which inspire me daily.

Thank you.

Now, we venture forth.

-E.

Anonymous asked: I came across your tumblr and honestly, I almost cried tears of joy because I adore everything about this page. It describes what I am going through with my relationship so perfectly. I know many people think long distance doesn't work out but love beats all odds. Just thank you so so so much.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you find the contents relatable. Honestly, most of the material for this project is what I personally experience on a day-to-day basis, so believe me when I say, “I get it!” :)

Best wishes to you and your love!
